A stone-laying ceremony for the restoration of Kim Linh 1 pagoda at Cho Gao district was held on January 31.
The ceremony was presided by Venerable Thích Thiện Tâm, Abbot of Kim Linh 1 pagoda and attended by Most Venerable Thích Đạt Quảng, Member of the provincial Discernment Committee; Most Venerable Thích Hoằng Đức, Member of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Council cum Vice Chairman of Tien Giang provincial VBS Executive Committee; Venerable Thích Nhật Từ, Member of the VBS Executive Council cum Deputy Director of the Vietnam Buddhist Institute in Ho Chi Minh city; and representatives from the Executive Board of districts and large numbers of monks and nuns in the locality.
Local guests at the ceremony included Vice Chairwoman of the provincial People’s Committee Trần Kim Mai, Vice Chairwoman of the district People’s Committee Nguyễn Thị Tiếp, and representatives of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs, provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and local authorities.
It’s reported that the original Kim Linh 1 pagoda was built in 1934 and upgraded many times. The new pagoda will be reconstructed on an area of 450m2, including the main worshipping place and supporting facilities, and its reconstruction was funded by donators and Buddhist devotees.
