The 7th congress of Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Chapter in Ninh Thuan province’s Phan Rang – Thap Cham city was successfully convened on December 3 in Sung An pagoda, Phan Rang Thap Cham city.
The event saw the presence of Most Venerable Thích Hạnh Thể, Member of the VBS’s Executive Council cum Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Committee in Ninh Thuan, members of the VBS’s Executive Board in the city, heads of Buddhist establishments in the city, and representatives of local authorities and lay Buddhists in the locality.
As reported at the one-day congress, in the previous term, Buddhist monks, nuns and lay followers in Phan Rang – Thap Cham city have proactively joined patriotic movements, social and charitable programs including the Covid-19 prevention work launched by local authorities.
The event selected 27 members to the VBS executive board in the city for 2021-2026 tenure, with Venerable Thích Thông Tánh reelected as head of the Buddhist executive board.
During the congress, local authorities presented certificates of recommendation to Buddhist groups, monks and nuns in the city for their outstanding contributions in patriotic programs in the previous term.
New VBS’ executive board in Phan Rang – Thap Cham city for 2021-2026 tenure makes its debut
On the occasion, the city VBS’s Executive Board presented 50 million VND to the city Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee for building charity houses to poor households in the locality.
