Monk Minh and locals prepare to build bridge connecting communes of Thoi Quan and Thuy Lieu

Over the past years, he has proactively engaged in social charities for the community.

He was born and raised in the remote commune of Thuy Lieu of Go Quao district, where the Khmer people accounts for about 47% of the commune's population. Having aware of the disadvantaged socio-economic conditions of the locality, he has mobilized sponsors in the province and neighbors to raise funds for building rural bridges and roads. The first 20m-long bridge was built in Thanh Hoa II hamlet in 2007 with the total investment of 30 million VND. 

Since then, more than 100 rural bridges in Kien Giang region have been completed thanks to Most Venerable Lý Long Công Danh and the 20-member bridge construction team of Thnol Chum pagoda. Most Venerable Công Danh - Monk Minh has committed and made great efforts to the work of building rural bridges and roads, practically contributing to rural development in the locality.

In 2022, in addition to a campaign launched for building 18 bridges valued at over two billion VND, Most Venerable Công Danh also presented more than 1,000 gift sets to disadvantaged people in the province. He said that he has learned from President Hồ Chí Minh in terms of volunteerism, responsibility, and community service, so that he has received much trust and practical supports from locals and sponsors.

Besides the social charities, Monk Minh has also had 27-year experiences in teaching of Khmer language in the locality. Every summer, he launches seven to eight Khmer classes at Thnol Chum pagoda which often draw the participation of over 200 pupils from grade 1 to grade 7.

According to Chairwoman of the People's Committee of Thuy Lieu commune Trương Thị Bạch Tuyết, Most Venerable Lý Long Công Danh has practically contributed to the communication work of the State's policies and laws amongst the Khmer people over the past years, and proactively accompanied local authorities in promoting social welfares in the locality especially the construction of new-style rural infrastructures. He is always dedicated to charity work and being a typical example for everyone, she stated.

With outstanding contributions to social charities, Monk Công Danh has been presented nearly 20 certificates of recommendation by the Chairman of the provincial People's Committee since 2012. In particular, he was one of 67 national typical examples of studying and following President Hồ Chí Minh’s ideology, morality and lifestyle invited to the meeting with the State President held in Hanoi in November, 2023.
