Minister of Ethnic & Religious Affairs meets with religious dignitaries

Minister of Ethnic and Religious Affairs Đào Ngọc Dung hosted a meeting in Hanoi on March 1 with religious dignitaries attending the announcing ceremony for the establishment of the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs.

Attending the event included Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs (GCRA) under the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs Vũ Hoài Bắc, and several religious dignitaries representing religious organizations.

Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the GCRA Vũ Hoài Bắc affirmed that Vietnam’s Party and State have pursued a consistent policy of respecting and protecting the right to freedom of belief and religion, promoting fine cultural, moral values and resources of religions in service of national development. Thanks to the care of the Party and State, religious organizations and almost all followers have accompanied with the nation and proactively joined in patriotic movements, significantly contributing to national construction and development. 

During the event, while expressing their joy and confidence in the leadership of the Party, the State and the Government on ethnic and religious affairs participating religious monastics affirmed that they would continue closely working with the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs in conducting religious practices, organizing religious services, promoting the positive cultural and ethical values of religions, and mobilizing religious resources for social welfare provision, contributing to the development of the country.

While warmly welcoming the religious dignitaries, Minister Đào Ngọc Dung highlighted that Vietnam has a long and fascinating history and traditional culture spanning thousands of years, and is a multi-religious and multi-ethnic country; Throughout the historical process of national construction and defense, the Party and the State have consistently implemented a policy of respecting and protecting the right to freedom of belief and religion of people.

Religious dignitaries have clearly demonstrated their role as a bridge between the Party and State's policies and the people's aspirations, and proactively encouraged religious followers to actively engage in patriotic emulation movements; Religious followers in Vietnam have practically contributed to preserving, fostering and enriching the traditional cultural values ​​of the nation; and Religions in Vietnam are not only a component of the national culture, but also provide a truly important resources contributing to the country's development, etc.

The Minister expressed hope that leading religious dignitaries would continue guiding religious believers in preserving and promoting the tradition of national solidarity, fostering harmony between religion and the secular life, and well implementing the Party’s policies and the State’s laws.
