Jesuit Provincial of Vietnam holds closing ceremony for the Jubilee Year

The Jesuit Provincial of Vietnam held a closing ceremony for jubilee year to mark 400 years in Vietnam (1615-2015) on Jan 18.

The ceremony was presided by Bishop Hoàng Văn Đạt of Bac Ninh diocese, Secretary of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Vietnam (CBCV). Attending the ceremony were also 15 bishops, over 120 priests and nearly 3,000 Catholic followers inside and outside the diocese.

Joint the ceremony were also Deputy Director of Department of Catholic Affairs under the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Đặng Trung Thành, priests from the Jesuit in Asia – Pacific region, including Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand…

Speaking at the ceremony, Priest Phạm Thanh Liêm, Superior General of the Jesuit Provincial of Vietnam recalled valuable contributions to Vietnam by Priest Alexandre de Rhodes in introducing and spreading Romanized Vietnamese script to Vietnam. He also called on priests of the Jesuit Provincial of Vietnam to continue the missionary work in the spirit of integration into national culture and devotion to the nation and the Church.
