Zero-dong market for poor people set up by Buddhist pagoda in Tien Giang

Thien Phuoc pagoda located in My Phong commune’s My An hamlet of Tien Giang province’s My Tho city currently has nearly 300 members, managed by Reverent Nun Thích nữ Diệu Quang.

In the last two weeks (from July 19 to August 1), Nun Thích nữ Diệu Quang  successfully gathered supports from lay Buddhists and philanthropists for setting up a Zero-dong markets for presenting rice, noodles, soya sauces, breads, vegetables and other necessities to poor people in My Tho city during the social distancing imposed in accordance with the Directive No. 16 of the Prime Minister.

This zero-dong market opened daily from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. in front of Thien Phuoc pagoda, and had the operating value of over 100 million VND in total.

In addition, the Buddhist nun also sent members of the pagoda to visit Covid-19 checkpoints in the city for sending sets of necessities containing rice, sugar, soya sauces, cooking oils and vegetables to people in quarantine areas.
