Roles and practical contributions of Buddhist monks, nuns and followers in Hai Phong during the two wars against the French colonialist and American imperialism was highlighted at a workshop held in Hai Phong on July 22.
The event taking place in Pho Chieu pagoda in Le Chan ward, Hai Phong city was organized by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee in Hai Phong city and the Union of Science and Technology Association in the city.
Eight out of 14 presentations papers from researchers, Buddhist monks and nuns in Hai Phong were presented at the workshop.
Speaking at the event, Most Venerable Thích Quảng Tùng, Vice President of the VBS’s Executive Council cum Chairman of the city VBS’s Executive Committee said that the workshop aims to affirm great contributions of Buddhist monks, nuns and lay Buddhists in wars for national liberation.
The workshop also created an opportunity for Buddhist followers, scientists, researchers and managers to share new related studies, the Venerable informed.
