The Pure-Land Buddhist Association’s executive committee in Tien Giang province held on March 20 the annual meeting to review its performance 2020 and outline plans of activities in 2021.
The meeting taking place at Hung Thanh temple in Go Cong district saw the presence of Ven. Trần Công Chức, Chairman of the provincial Pure-Land Buddhist Association’s executive committee, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Pure-Land Buddhist Association’s executive committee Nguyễn Hữu Đức, and representatives from 9 chapters and 10 traditional clinics of the pure-land Buddhist association in the province.
Guests at the event included Vice Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Trần Văn Khuê.
The Vietnam Pure-Land Buddhist Association in Tien Giang province has currently nine chapters with over 3,000 followers and 10 charity clinics.
According to the meeting report, the Vietnam Pure-Land Buddhist Association executive committee in the province has recorded many achievements in religious affairs and social charities in 2020. During the year, the provincial Buddhist Association has organized 12 tenet trainings and repaired auxiliary construction facilities of six chapters.
In addition, chapters of the Buddhist sect in the province spent over 9.7 billion VND on social charities, including medical examinations for over 92,000 patients, approximately 674,000 packs of traditional medicines, acupuncture for over 135,000 patients, and presentation of two charity houses and over 3,400 gift packages to the poor, etc.
On the occasion, the Central Vietnam Buddhist Association’s Executive Committee presented ordination certificates to members of the Buddhist sect including one professor, three associate professors, seven lecturers of medical charities.
