The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Committee in Quang Nam province held a program with the theme “Filial piety and Nation” on August 12 ahead of the Buddhist Parents Day Festival 2018 (B.E. 2562).
The event saw the participation of Most Venerable Deputy Patriarch of the VBS Thích Thiện Duyên, Most Venerable Chairman of the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee Thích Thiện Thành, representatives of local authorities and large numbers of monks, nuns and Buddhists in the province.
The program “Filial piety and Nation” carried the message of preserving and promoting the filial piety in Buddhism as well as the national culture honoring the parents and those rendered meritorious services to the country.
During the event, the provincial VBS’s Executive Committee presented prizes to the best works in a writing contest on filial piety 2018 and honored typical students for their filial piety and excellent academic results in the province.
On this occasion, Quang Nam provincial committee for religious affairs also presented gifts to Vietnam heroic mothers in the province as a way of expressing profound gratitude for their contributions to the cause of national independence.
