For the last three months, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s chapter in Long An province has successfully raised over 24.5 billion VND from monks, nuns, and lay Buddhists for social and charitable activities in the locality.
That social and charitable result was reported at an online meeting held early in September to review the three-month Buddhist affairs (June - August) of the VBS in the province.
Specifically, social and charitable activities launched and implemented by monks, nuns and lay Buddhists in the province included the construction of 13 rural traffic bridges; donation of over 315 tons of rice, nearly 700 tons of vegetables, nearly 34,000 sets of supplies to disadvantaged people in lockdown and quarantine areas; presentation of 13 high-flow multi-function ventilators and five sputum aspirators to hospitals, nearly 670 million VND in cash to the Covid-10 Vaccine Fund and the epidemic frontline medical force, and over 3,000 protective suits; and offering of over 23,500 meals to frontline forces fighting the epidemic and people in quarantine areas.
