The Executive Committee for the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in the southern province of Dong Nai has sent a dispatch asking the district-level VBS executive boards to play active roles in the upcoming elections.
In the dispatch, the VBS executive committee in the province regarded the elections of deputies to the 15th Legislature of the National Assembly and People’s Councils at all levels for the term 2021-2026 slated for May 23 this year as the national event and opportunity for all citizens including Buddhists to show the civic duty and obligation towards the country.
Thus, the provincial Buddhist executive committee asked the VBS executive board in districts to encourage local monks, nuns and lay Buddhists to responsibly and proactively participate in the upcoming elections.
