VBS in Bien Hoa city presents scholarships to blind families’ children

The Social Charity Board under the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s chapter in Dong Nai province’s Bien Hoa city held on June 29 a program for presenting 14 scholarships to pupils who are children of the municipal Blind Association’s members.

The event taking place at the VBS Executive Board’s office in the city based at Duc Quang pagoda saw the presence of Senior Venerable Thích Minh Trí, Chairman of the VBS executive board in the city, Nun Thích nữ Quảng Tiên, Head of the VBS social charity board.

The program presented 14 scholarships, each includes 2.5 million VND in cash, stationery, food and necessities to disadvantaged pupils. The total value of the program was 42 million VND donated by heads of Buddhist worshipping places and lay Buddhists in the city.

According to the VBS executive board in Bien Hoa city, dignitaries, monks, nuns and lay Buddhists in the city have contributed about ten billion VND to the social charity work in the first six month 2021, in which 725 million VND sent to the Covid-19 vaccine fund.
