VBS in Ben Tre holds requiem for Covid-19 deaths

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) executive board in Ben Tre province’s Giong Trom district in collaboration with the district authorities held on September 24 a requiem for Covid-19 victims died in Ho Chi Minh City.

Present at the ceremony taking place in Phuoc Long pagoda located in the district’s Phong Nam commune included Buddhist dignitaries of the VBS Chapter in Giong Trom district, officers of provincial military command and representatives of the district authorities.

During the ceremony, the district VBS’s executive board received ash urns of 11 Covid-19 victims from the district’s communes and towns of Chau Hoa, Luong Hoa, Binh Hoa, Long My, Hung Nhuong, Tan Hao, Tan Loi Thanh, Luong Phu, Phong Nam and Binh Thanh, and Buddhist dignitaries and representatives of authorities together offered incenses for paying tribute to these victims and joint in Buddhist rites and prayers for a spiritual uplifting of the Covid-19 victims.

After the ceremony, representative of district authorities handed over ash urns of the Covid-19 deaths to their families.

During the complicated context of Covid-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City, many people from other provinces living in the city have been infected and died by the pandemic. Sharing sympathy with families having Covid-19 deaths, the military command at all level has organized cremations and handed over ashes to their relatives in locality.
