A seminar on Vietnam Buddhist cultural characteristics was held by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) on April 29 in Nghe An province.
Attending the event included Most Venerable Vice President of the VBS’s Executive Council Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Most Venerable Chairman of the VBS’s Cultural Affairs Committee Thích Trung Hậu, Senior Venerable Secretary General of the VBS Thích Đức Thiện, and large numbers of Buddhist dignitaries of the VBS’s central committees and chapters in provinces and cities across the country.
Distinguished guests at the event included Executive Vice Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Bùi Thanh Hà and Chairman of Nghe An provincial religious committee Lưu Công Vinh.

This is the 4th seminar held with the aim to appraise models for Buddhist clothing as part of a project for identifying and developing Buddhist cultural traits in Vietnam. During the event, Buddhist models for formal and informal dressing, including shoes, slippers, bags and dresses were introduced for discussion of their designs, colors and materials. Results of the seminar will be submitted to the VBS’s Executive Council for approval of clothing models that will be produced for serving Buddhist delegates attending the VBS’s 8th national congress to be held in November this year.
