VBS chapter in Gia Lam district holds 9th congress

The 9th congress of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s chapter in Gia Lam district of Hanoi city was successfully convened on October 26 in Dao Xuyen pagoda in Da Ton commune.  

The event saw the participation of the Senior Venerable Thích Minh Tuấn, Member of the VBS’s Executive Council cum Vice Chairman of the municipal VBS Chapter, Senior Venerable Thích Thanh Quy, Member of the VBS’s Executive Council cum Chairman of the district VBS chapter, and monks, nuns and representatives from the VBS’s executive boards in districts.

Guests at the event included Chairwoman of the municipal Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Nguyễn Thị Kim Dung and Vice Chairwoman of the municipal religious committee Phạm Bảo Khánh.

As reported at the event, in the previous term, Buddhist monks, nuns and followers in Gia Lam district have proactively joined patriotic movements and social charitable activities with total the contribution of over 7 billion VND.

The event also elected 20 members to the new-term VBS Executive Committee in the province for 2021-2026 tenure, with Venerable Thích Quảng Thiện, Abbot of Keo pagoda in Kim Son commune selected as head of the Buddhist executive board.

Presenting certificates of commendation to Buddhists monks, nuns for their outstanding contributions in Buddhist affairs

The VBS chapter in the city and local authorities also presented certificates of commendation to Buddhist groups, monks and nuns for their outstanding contributions in Buddhist affairs in the previous term.

On the occasion, the VBS Chapter in the district handed over 120 million to the Fund for the poor and 40 million VND to the Covid-19 pandemic fund of the district.
