Attending the event were Most Venerable Vice Chairman of the VBS Executive Council Thích Thanh Nhiễu, members of the provincial VBS Executive Committee, and delegates representing Buddhist monks, nuns and followers in the locality.

As reviewed at the event, in addition to good results recorded in Buddhist affairs for the term of 2012-2017, Buddhist dignitaries and followers in Dien Bien province have contributed over VND 10 billion in social, charitable activities in the locality over the past five years

The one-day congress elected 27 members to the provincial VBS Executive Committee for 2017–2022 tenure with Senior Venerable Thích Đức Thiện elected as the Committee Chairman.
