VBS chapter in Chu Puh district holds 3rd congress

The 3rd congress of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s chapter in Chu Puh district of Gia Lai province was successfully convened on November 15 in Linh Quang pagoda, Ia Hru commune.  

The event saw the participation of Most Venerable Thích Từ Vân, Member of the VBS’s Executive Council cum Chairman of the VBS Chapter in Gia Lai, other representatives from the VBS Chapter in the province, and over 20 members of the VBS chapter in the district.

Local guests at the event included Vice Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Nguyễn Văn Nô and representatives from local authorities.

As reported at the event, in the previous term, Buddhist monks, nuns and lay followers in Chu Buh district have proactively joined patriotic movements and launched social, charitable programs with the total contribution of over 3.5 billion VND.

 The event elected 17 members to the VBS executive board in Chu Puh district for 2021-2026 tenure, with Venerable Thích Đức Chánh, Abbot of Linh Hung pagoda in Ia Le commune, selected as head of the Buddhist executive board.
