The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Chapter in Ben Tre province on October 5 presented 12 tons of rice to people in Covid-19 quarantine areas in the locality.
Attending the presentation taking place at Vien Minh pagoda located in Ben Tre city’s An Hoi ward of the province included Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee cum Chairwoman of the People’s Council in the province Hồ Thị Hoàng Yến, Acting Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Comittee Nguyễn Phúc Linh, Senior Venerable Member of the VBS’s Central Executive Council cum Vice Chairman of the Executive Committee of the VBS Chapter in Ben Tre Thích Trí Thọ and Venerable Chairman of the VBS Charity Board in the province Thích Trí Thuận.
As reported, authorities in Ben Tre have received people returning from Ho Chi Minh City after the implementation of Directive No.16 lifted in the city. For helping these people, the VBS chapter in the province has encouraged and gathered supports from the VBS in Ho Chi Minh City, monks, nuns and lay Buddhists to make donations for sending 12 tons of rice to quarantine areas through the provincial VFF.
