07/12/2021

In the complicated Covid-19 pandemic  in Ho Chi Minh city and localities, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) has issued notifications asking the central functioning committees, the provincial level VBS Executive Committees, pagodas and Buddhist worshipping places, monks and nuns to strengthen measures for Covid-19 pandemic prevention.

Accordingly, the VBS said that monks and nuns at pagodas and places of worship must strictly implement the epidemic prevention and control measures as regulated by the Ministry of Health and local authorities, including facemasks, hand washing, and implementation of 5K and vaccine.

The VBS asked for the suspension of mass gatherings and enhanced organization of online preachings in social media and the online Propagation Central head by Phat Su online. The VBS also asked the central functioning committees and the provincial level VBS Executive Committee to hold online meetings for review Buddhist affairs in the first six months of 2021.

Monks, nuns and Buddhist followers should not unnecessarily go to public places. Especially, those monks and nuns attending the summer retreat course must stay in the retreat venues.

The VBS also urged the provincial level VBS executive committee to closely work with the Fatherland Front at all levels and local authorities to ensure safety in social charity and relief work.
