Truong Sanh pagoda in My Tho city, solemnly inaugurated Lien Hoa stupa-funeral center at a ceremony held on April 22.
Attending the ceremony included Most Venerable Chairman of Tien Giang provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Thích Tuệ Minh and a large number of Buddhists in the locality.
Vice Chairman of provincial People’s Committee Trần Kim Mai, Chairman of the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee Huỳnh Văn Phương and representatives from local authorities have also joint local Buddhists in the event.
It’s reported that Lien Hoa stupa has a total floor area of 1,500m2 with 9 stories, 51m in height and a Vietnamese Buddhist design. The ground floor is served as a place for the organization of funerals and large enough to organize three funerals at a time. Floors from the 1st to the 7th will be used as the keeping place for up to 45,000 remains. The 8th floor has a statue of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. A Amitabha Buddha statue made of stone with 1.6m high was placed on the top floor.
The total construction cost of this stupa was estimated at VND29 billion in which local authorities granted VND3.5 billion and individual donors, business corporations and Buddhist followers contributed the rest./.
