Tien Giang province: The 10th founding anniversary of the Nhan Ai disabled school

On September 25th, 2014, at Nhan Ai disabled school (No 290, Ly Thuong Kiet Str, ward 5, My Tho city, Tien Giang province), a ceremony was solemnly held for the 10th founding anniversary (2004-2014).

Nhan Ai disabled school is a humanitarian center under My Tho Bishopric, the school provides education classes from grade 1 to grade 5, and vocational training for deaf children from 1 to 5 years old in the My Tho diocese, regardless of religious backgrounds.

Local officials attending the ceremony included Mrs. Trần Thị Quý Mão, Deputy Director of Education and Training Department, Mr. Trần Văn Khuê, Vice Chairman of provincial Committee for Religious Affairs. Representatives from the Church at the ceremony included Bishop Nguyễn Văn Khảm of My Tho diocese, the priests inside and outside the diocese, clergies. Joining the ceremony were also teachers, parents and students in Nhan Ai disabled school with a total of about 200 participants.

At the opening the ceremony, priest Hà Văn Xung- Director of Nhan Ai disabled school summarized school development process. He also sent a message for encouraging students to strive to integrate into community and expressed thanks to benefactors for their support during the past years.

Nun Nguyễn Thị Sương (nun of St. Paul Congregation), Principal of Nhan Ai disabled school reviewed the school achievements in 10 years. Currently, Nhan Ai disabled school has 105 students in 8 boarding and unboarding classes. The school has 11 teachers in charge of administration and teaching, 5 support staff.

Beside the education programs for students, Nhan Ai school also provided vocational education- training, taught cooking and wood processing skills, and organized extracurricular activities and sports programs. In recent years, the students in Nhan Ai disabled school has achieved high performance with 02 gold medals and many silver medals and bronze medals in National Disabled Sports Festivals.

Bishop Nguyễn Văn Khảm expressed his thanks to local authorities for creating favourable conditions and called on people to respect and provide necessary support to disabled people.

The ceremony was concluded in a cheerful atmosphere./.
