Thousands of catfish are kept in Nui Sap lake of the Truc Lam Zen monastery in An Giang province.
The Truc Lam Zen monastery has two lakes which one for Koi fish and the other for catfish released by Buddhists over the past two years.
The thousands of catfish are mainly black with some yellow or white, and each one weighs two kilograms or more.
Visitors enjoy feeding the catfish
According to Venerable Thích Đạt Ma Chí Kiên, Abbot of the monastery, the number of catfish has continuously increased due to releases or their self-reproduce. The total weight of the black catfish herd has been estimated at over four tons. “When the fish fills the whole lake, we will release them into river”, the abbot informed.
