The Buddhist Parents’ Day Festival held in Khanh Hoa, Thai Nguyen and Thai Binh province

Many pagodas in provinces organized the Buddhist Parents’ Day B.E 2558 with many meaningful activities.

In Khanh Hoa province

On August 4, 2014, Venerable Thích Thiện Thông, Head of the Cultural Board of the Duyen Khanh district’s Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS), Abbot of Minh Thien pagoda celebrated a solemn Parents’ Day festival, with such activities as presenting roses, making offerings to monks and organizing a Buddha recitation for 500 Buddhists in the locality.

On the same day, the pagoda presented gift boxes to poor people in the locality, each gift worths 500,000 VND. The total worth of gifts is about 60 million VND.

Thai Nguyen province held a Parents’ Day Festival at Thinh Dan pagoda

On August 3, 2014, Thinh Dan pagoda (Thai Nguyen province) organized an art performance with the theme “Welcoming the Parents’ Day festival” to express gratitude toward the parents. 

Attending the ceremony were representatives from local authorities; Venerable Thích Nguyên Thành, member of the Executive Council of VBS, Head of Thai Nguyen province’s VBS Executive Board; Venerable Thích Thanh Thắng, Deputy Head of Thai Nguyen province’s VBS Executive Board; monks, nuns and Buddhists in the locality.

Thai Binh province: Tu Xuyen pagoda celebrated the Parents’ Day festival

On August from 1 to 3, 2014, Tu Xuyen pagoda (Hoang Dieu ward, Thai Binh city) held a ceremony to pray for spiritual uplifting of the deceased and for peace and prosperity for the country, and organized the Buddhist Parents’ Day according to Buddhist traditions and the filial piety of Vietnamese people.
