Southern Buddhists send supports to people in Ho Chi Minh City

In the ongoing complicated context of Covid-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh city, the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Committees and worshipping places in provinces of Gia Lai, Dak Nong, Ben Tre and Lam Dong have organized programs for sending foods to people in the city.  

From July 12-17, the VBS’s Central Subcommittee for Nun Affairs in Ben Tre province and Phuc An pagoda located in the province’s Chau Thanh district encouraged lay Buddhists to contribute foods including vegetables and fruits for sending to people in quarantine areas in Ho Chi Minh City.

The VBS’s executive committee in Gia Lai province sent on July 19 a shipment containing over 20 tons of vegetables and necessities to people in quarantine areas in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 12.

Thien Dao pagoda located in Da Glong district’s Quang Son commune of Dak Nong province and M’Nong ethnic people on July 21 sent 10 tons of agricultural products to people in Ho Chi Minh City, and Phuoc Quang pagoda located in Dak Song district’s Nam Binh commune of the province has presented 20 tons of agricultural products to people in a quarantine area in Binh Duong province.

On July 21, nearly 13 tons of vegetables were sent from Giac Hai pagoda located in Don Duong district’s Thanh My town of Lam Dong province to Buddhist worshipping places and people in quarantine areas in Ho Chi Minh City. Early, on July 20, a shipment containing seven tons of vegetables gathered by the pagoda was sent to workers in Binh Duong province.
