The Correction-Path Caodai Church was founded in 1934 and currently has over 0.8 million followers residing in 26 provinces and cities nationwide, with 203 worshipping oratories and its headquarters located in Ben Tre province.

Since its establishment, the Caodai sect has paid due attention to social charities. Contained in its charter is the words of Pope Nguyễn Ngọc Tương, founder of the Caodai church, who emphasized the social charities work as both demonstrating and cultivating ways of compassion and love towards humanity.

In the organization system, the Caodai church has established a separate body for implementing social charities at both central and local levels of the church’s administration. At the central level, the charity board is directly under the church’s central Executive Committee. In localities, all 198 parishes of the Caodai church have their own charities boards established for social charities.

Generally, all followers of the Correction-Path Caodai Church are members of charities boards and make voluntary contributions to the fund for implementing social charities. However, their contributions vary, depending on their varying income and specific activities of social charities in need.

In addition, under guidance of Pope Nguyễn Ngọc Tương, the Caodai church also established a separate body called “Merit Institution” as one of the Church’s Council of Nine Institute for guiding followers to cultivate their merit through making practical contributions to fellow human beings as well as the community and society.
