The pagodas in Vinh Chau (Soc Trang) distributed 130 tons of rice contributed by Chinese associations and businesses.
This activity was held after a requiem to pray for the deceased. Many families also made an offering ritual themselves then distributed rice, from 5kg to 10kg, to receivers.
In ward 1, the quantity of distributed rice reached nearly 90 tons, and in Vinh Phuoc ward reached 35 tons. This distribution of rice provided a brief relief for more than 1,300 poor people, elderly and disabled families.
As usual, the remaining pagodas in the locality would also respectively organize the Buddhist Parents Day, with such activities as offering incense and Dharma preaching on debt of gratitude to the parents and practical deeds to show filial piety to the Parents. In affordable Buddhist establishments, Buddhist art performances and self-writing displays about the parents was also held.
