Lam Son Pagoda located in Nghe An province - the largest wooden Buddhist temple complex in Vietnam North Central has possessed a 60-ton statue of Buddha Maitreya tons made from a precious corundum sapphire stone block
The corundum sapphire stone block donated by a local weighs over 120 tons discovered four meters underground at a rock mountain in Nghe An province’s Quynh Hop district.
The Maitreya statue has the height of 3.2m placed on a base made of 30 concrete blocks.
The statue has been skillfully carved by artisans from Da Nang city for six months
It has been basically carved by six artisans from Da Nang for a period of six months and it still takes another two months to complete the statue project.

In addition to the new Maitreya statue, Lam Son Paboda located in Nghe An province’s Quynh Yen district currently possesses the largest wooden Bodhidharma statue with 3.8m high and over three tons in weight.
