Implementing the directive of Prime Minister on a nation-wide social distancing, religious organizations have issued dispatches to members on strengthened measures for the covid-19 prevention and control.
The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha Chapter in Tay Ninh province issued on April 1 a dispatch asking for the suspension of all Buddhist festivals, especially Chol Chnam Thmay festival 2020, at seven Khmer pagodas in the locality, and strict observance of the national social distancing, as well as cancel of visits to or from Cambodia during this time.
The association for solidarity of patriotic Buddhist monks in Soc Trang province has sent a notice to heads and the management boards of Khmer pagodas requesting them not to hold Buddhist gatherings or large celeborating parties during Chol Chnam Thmay Festival, and strictly observe the PM’s directive on social distancing.
On the same day, the Bani Islamic Dignitaries Council in Ninh Thuân also issued a dispatch asking for temporary suspension or scaling down of large religious gatherings during Ramuwan Festival 2020.
Earlier, on March 30, the Spiritual Council of the Vietnam Baha'i Community released a notification announcing the canceling of local general conferences for electing the local spiritual councils and an extention of the serving time of the existing local spiritual councils to March 2021.
As pronounced, the national congress of Baha’i faith will be held online on May 1. Regarding the selection of the national spiritual council, delegates will send their votes by post office or other means of transport to the spiritual Council’s office in Ho Chi Minh city.
