Tu Quang Pagoda in Quang Ngai city’s Nghia Lo ward solemnly held on February 16 the ground-breaking ceremony for its reconstruction.
Attending the ceremony included Most Venerable Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Committee in Quang Ngai province Thích Hạnh Lạc and about 2,000 monks, nuns and followers inside and outside the province.
The event also saw the participation of Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Nguyễn Vĩnh Lạc and local authorities’ representatives.
Tu Quang Pagoda was established in 1967 by Most Venerable Thích Giải An and restored in 1990. As the pagoda has seriously degraded after 50 years of existence and to meet current religious needs of local Buddhists, the provincial authorities has approved for the Buddhist Chapter in Quang Ngai province to rebuild the main worshipping and supporting facilities on a total area of 2,500m2. The reconstruction of these facilities is expected to be complete in three years.
