Phu Son pagoda in An Giang formally recognized as worshipping place of Buddist Sangha

A ceremony to formally recognize Phu Son pagoda located in An Giang province’s Tan Chau district as a worshipping place of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) was held on January 6.

The ceremony was held by the Executive Committee of the VBS chapter in An Giang province and attended by Most Venerable Chairman of the VBS's Executive Committee Thích Huệ Tài, representatives from local authorities and other religious organizations, and a large number of Buddhists in the locality.

During the event, Most Venerable Thích Huệ Tài presented the decision to appoint Senior Venerable Thích Thiện Tín as new abbot of the pagoda.

Phu Son pagoda also called Nui Noi temple, located in Nui Noi village, was built in 1938 and has undergone several restorations and repairs. The recognition of the pagoda as a worshipping place of the VBS would contribute to meet the religious need of local people as well as promote the spiritual tourism of the locality.
