Pagoda worshipping 1,000 martyrs in Quang Nam

Ha Tan pagoda located on an islet at the T-junction of two rivers of Ha Tan village in Quang Nam province’s Dai Loc district is known as the worshipping place for 1,000 martyrs of Thuong Duc battle in 1974.  

Venerable Thích Đống Nhãn visits local heroic mothers on War Invalids and Martyrs' Day

Being built in 1959, the pagoda witnessed the ups and downs of Vietnam's historical periods. In 2012, the pagoda started worshipping 1,000 martyrs of 304 and 324 Divisions and 219 Regiment of the 2nd Corps under agreements of the local authorities and the martyrs’ relatives.

According to Venerable Abbot of the pagoda Thích Đống Nhãn, the pagoda annually holds requiem praying for the martyrs and visits local Vietnamese heroic mothers on occasion of the War Invalids and Martyrs' Day. This year the pagoda presented 110 gift sets containing one million VND in cash and a silk sheet per set, to heroic mothers in Dai Loc district.

In addition, Venerable Thích Đống Nhãn annually raises billions of VND for supporting victims of natural disasters and disadvantaged people.

According to Deputy Head of the labour - invalids and social affairs office in Dai Loc district Trần Văn Lân, Ha Tan pagoda has made practical contributions to the social development in the locality, especially its assistance provided to policy beneficiaries in the district.

Ha Tan pagoda was rebuilt in 2015 and completed its reconstruction in 2018. The newly-inaugurated pagoda has become a practicing place for not only Buddhists in the locality but also Buddhists throughout the country.
