Pagoda in Ho Chi Minh City holds Buddha painting contest for children

Celebrating the 2562nd Buddha’s Birthday, Buu Da Pagoda located in Ho Chi Minh City’s District No. 10 held on May 20 a Buddha painting contest for children

About 50 local children have participated in the painting program themed “The Buddha As I Understand” with two painting parts of colouring models and painting new ones.

According to Ven. Thích Thi Vinh, this first event of the Buddha painting contest taking place on occasion of the Buddha Birthday created an opportunity for children to learn about the Lord Buddha - Founder of Buddhism.

Participating children were presented with gifts after completing paintings and the final result of the painting contest will be announced on the 15th of the fourth lunar month at a ceremony held in Buu Da pagoda.

Carefully adding colours to painting samples

As reported, activities celebrating the Buddha Birthday this year by the pagoda include an exhibition of calligraphy and Buddhist culture on May 22, exchanges on the theme “The Buddha in me” on May 27, presentation of 200 gift sets to blind people on May 29 and a cultural performance on the main celebrating day.
