Nghe An provincial Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics held a meeting on July 13 for reviewing implementation of patriotic emulation movements in the first of six month 2016.
As reported at the meeting, in the first six months of 2016, under the provincial Committee for Solidarity of Vietnamese Catholics’ guidance and encouragement, Catholic followers have contributed nearly 2.4 billion VND to social and charitable activities.
Regarding the election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly election and People`s Councils at all levels for the period of 2016 – 2021, Nghe An province has 453 Catholics elected to the People’s Council at all levels in the 2016 – 2021 tenure and the Catholic participation in the election had reached over 97% of all eligible Catholic voters in the locality.
Overview of the meeting
As approved at the meeting, the Committee’s program of activities for the last six months of 2016 emphasized on key tasks for encouraging local Catholics to well implement both civic and religious duties and make practical contributions to socio-economic development in the locality.
