Nghe An authorities strengthen Covid-19 prevention measures in religious, belief worshipping places

Nghe An provincial People’s Committee has sent a notice to the provincial religious committee, the public security, the department of health and the district and commune-level People’s Committees asking for strengthening preventive measures against Covid-19 pandemic in religious and belief places in new context.
Accordingly, the provincial government asked the provincial committee for religious affairs to closely work with the Vinh diocese and the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee in preventing Covid-19 pandemic in religious places.
The provincial authorities asked the district and commune-level People’s Committee to directly work with religious dignitaries and representatives of the religious and belief worshipping places for guiding implementation of pandemic prevention measures.
The provincial government urged the district and commune level People’s Committees to strengthen the inspection of the implementation of the Covid-19 prevention work in religious and belief worshipping places by communal authorities.
Local authorities also called for practical contributions from religious organizations and followers in the province for supporting the Covid-19 Vaccine Fund of the Government.
As reported, facing the complicated developments of the epidemic in localities, religious organizations in Nghe An have strictly observed preventive measures against the pandemic as well as recommendations by the Ministry of Health and local authorities.
The notice of Vinh diocese on June 5
In particular, the Office of Vinh Diocese has issued on June 4 a notification reminding of additional measures for Covid-19 pandemic preventions in religious practices in the diocese.
The diocese also reminded several parishes of a strict observance of COVID-19 prevention and control measures.
The diocese asked local Catholic followers to strictly observe the 5K recommendation by Health Ministry and scale down masses at churches. Local Catholics returning from localities and areas having Covid-19 patients were asked to undertake self-isolation at home and submit medical declarations to local officials.
Earlier, the provincial VBS Executive Committee has sent a dispatch to the VBS executive boards in districts, heads of pagodas, and Buddhist ashrams asking for strictly implementing the Covid-19 prevention work.
The provincial VBS Executive Committee asked Buddhist worshipping places to suspend all Buddhist activities with large gatherings and encourage online masses for public health protection.
