New pagoda to take shape in Nghe An province’s Cua Luy temple Relic Area

The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s chapter in Nghe An province in collaboration with Anh Son district authorities in the province held on April 20 a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Anh Son pagoda located in Cua Luy temple Relic Area.  

The ceremony saw the participation of Vice President of the VBS’s Central Executive Council cum Head of the VBS’s chapter Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Senior Venerable Vice Chairman cum General Secretary of the (VBS)’s Executive Committee Thích Đức Thiện, Senior Venerable Head of the VBS’s Committee for Cultural Affairs cum Standing Vice Chairman of the provincial VBS’s Executive Council Thích Thọ Lạc and Buddhist monks and nuns from pagodas and monasteries in Nghe An and other provinces.

Distinguished guests at the event included Chairman of the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Vũ Chiến Thắng, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Lê Hồng Vinh and representatives of the provincial and district authorities.

The groundbreaking ceremony featuring Buddhist rituals, groundbreaking and stone-laying services attracted a large number of local Buddhists.

As designed, Anh Son Pagoda has over 10 construction facilities, including Tam Quan gate (three-arched-entrances) and the two-storey main worshipping hall placed on the surface area of more than 700 square meters. These two construction works are expected to be completed in about one year.

Cua Luy temple Relic Area is currently in the process of preservation and renovation. The preservation and restoration of Cua Luy temple Relic Area in general and the construction of Anh Son pagoda in particular would contribute to better meeting the spiritual need of local people, and promote tourism in Anh Son and Western districts of Nghe An province.
