Ngoc Luat monastery in Tien Giang province’s My Tho city was inaugurated at a solemn ceremony held on January 26.
Present at the event included Most Venerable Thích Huệ Tâm, Head of the Discernment Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) in Tien Giang province, Most Venerable Thích Giác Nhân, Member of the VBS’s Central Executive Council cum Vice Chairman of the VBS’s Executive Committee in the province, Superior Nun Thích Nữ Tân Liên, Vice Chairwoman of the VBS’s Central Subcommittee for Nun Affairs, and large numbers of monks and nuns in Tien Giang and neighboring provinces.
Guests at the event included Vice Chairman of the Committee for Religious Affairs in the province Trần Văn Khuê.
Ngoc Luat monastery was established in early 1973. The reconstruction of the monastery on an area of over 1.000 square meters with facilities including a sanctum, a preaching hall, an ancestral house, a guest house, a canteen and the three-entrance gate was started in early 2020, with the total investment of over 12 billion VND, which was donated by lay Buddhists.
