The Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee in Ben Tre province in collaboration with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Giong Tom district held on May 8 a ceremony to inaugurate Dieu Thien bridge in Tan Thanh commune.
Presence at the event included Most Venerable Thích Như Niệm, Member of the VBS’s Central Executive Council cum Abbot of Phap Hoa pagoda in Ho Chi Minh city, Venerable Thích Trí Thuận, Head of the social charity board under the provincial VBS chapter; Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in Giong Tom Nguyễn Hữu Cách, and representatives from local authorities.
As reported, Dieu Thien bridge in Tan Phuoc village, Tan Thanh commune has 12 meters long, 2.3 meters wide, and the total investment of 100 million VND.
Presenting gifts to poor households
On the occasion, Venerable Thích Trí Thuận presented 30 gift sets to 30 poor households in Tan Thanh commune, each gift set worth 500,000 VND.
