Archbishop Marek Zalewski, the Holy See's Apostolic Nuncio to Singapore and the Vatican's non-resident Special Envoy to Vietnam announced on December 03 that Pope Francis has appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Ho Chi Minh city archdiocese Joseph Đỗ Mạnh Hùng as Bishop of Phan Thiet diocese.
Bishop Joseph Đỗ Mạnh Hùng was born on September 15, 1957 in Ho Chi Minh city. He was ordinated as Priest on August 30, 1990 at St. Joseph Major Seminary in the city. The Catholic dignitary was appointed as Auxiliary Bishop of Ho Chi Minh city archdiocese on March 08, 2018.
Since Bishop of Phan Thiet Joseph Vũ Duy Thống died on March 01, 2017, the diocese has been headed by Bishop Thomas Nguyễn Văn Trâm.
