More Buddhist monks, nuns join medical force fighting pandemic in Ho Chi Minh City

Most Venerable Thích Thanh Nhiễu, Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Central Executive Council approved on September 15 the sending of 11 volunteer monks and nuns for supporting the Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control work in Ho Chi Minh City.

Accordingly, 11 volunteer monks and nuns would join the medical staff at Field Hospital No. 13 belonging to the Vietnam - Germany Friendship Hospital located in Binh Hung commune of the city’s Binh Chanh district.

The volunteer Buddhists include three monks and nuns from the VBS chapter in Ninh Binh province, four monks and nuns from the VBS chapter in Nghe An province, one monk from the VBS chapter in Ha Nam province, two monks from the VBS chapter in Thai Binh province, and one monk from the VBS chapter in Hai Phong City.

Earlier, on September 13, the VBS central executive council also sent the second batch of 11 volunteer monks from provinces of Thai Nguyen, Thanh Hoa, Quang Ninh and Hung Yen to support the medical force in the field hospital for Covid-19 belonging to Thai Nguyen Central Hospital branch in Long An province’s Tan An City.
