The Standing Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS)’s Executive Council officially chose the symbol (logo) of its 40th founding anniversary on August 12.
This logo was chosen based on a contest to create a formal symbol of its 40th founding anniversary launched in March 2021. After three months of launching, the contest organizing committee received 110 contest entries by 50 authors who are monks, nuns, lay Buddhists and people who love Buddhism in the country.
On July 15, a jury made up of members from the VBS’s Secretariat, the VBS’s Central Committee for Buddhist Culture, the VBS’s Central Office, and several experts voted the logo designed by Nguyễn Minh Ngọc from Yen Bai province as the single first prize, as those created by Nguyễn Văn Ngát from Ho Chi Minh City and Võ Doãn Tuấn from Nghe An province for incentive awards.
Then, the Standing Committee of the VBS’s Executive Council has chosen the first prize-winning logo as the official symbol of its 40th founding anniversary, and the two consolation prize logos for uses in decorating banners of the anniversary celebration.
According to Senior Venerable Thích Đức Thiện, Vice President cum General Secretary of the VBS’s Executive Council, the VBS chapters at all levels in provinces and cities could use these logos in related events from August 12.
