Lam Dong province: Protestant Church conducts medical charity in local community

The Social Affairs and Health Committee of the Evangelical Church of Vietnam (Southern) conducted free distribution of medicines for people at the two communes of Da Quyn and Ta Hine in Duc Trong district of Lam Dong province on September 24-25.

This activity was part of a program for community’s health care implemented in collaboration with the Duc Trong district Red Cross Association at two commune’s clinics. The medical delegation consists of 25 members including 10 doctors in which of three doctors are Christians working in Da Lat hospital. Local Protestant Churches also sent doctors and volunteers to joint with the delegation in the medical charity.

At Da Quyn commune, most of patients were elderly with stomachaches, babies with severe malnutrition, skin diseases and intestinal. 551 local people received with free examination and medicines. Of these, 89 patients were provided with sighted glasses to improve their eyes vision.

At Ta Hine commune, the delegation conducted free distribution of medicines for 564 people. Ta Hine commune is home to 3,600 people, mainly Churu and Cil groups in which 1,600 Catholics and 1,000 Protestants. Most of local ethnic people are farmers and still face food shortages and suffering from illnesses as in Da Quyn commune.
