The Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) chapter in Ninh Thuan province held on December 14 a ceremony for commemorating the 712th death anniversary of King-Monk Trần Nhân Tông.
The ceremony taking place at Vien Ngo Zen Monastery located in the province’s Ninh Hai district saw the presence of Most Venerable Thích Hạnh Thể, Member of the central VBS’s Executive Council cum Chairman of the VBS’s executive committee in Ninh Thuan; Senior Venerable Thích Minh Tánh, Vice Chairman of the VBS’s executive committee in the province; representatives from the provincial Mass Mobilization Commission, Religious Affairs Committee and the district authorities; and large numbers of heads of pagodas and lay Buddhists in the province.
During the event, Most Venerable Thích Hạnh Thể, Chairman of the VBS’s executive committee in the province recalled the political and Buddhist career and achievements of King-Monk Trần Nhân Tông.
At the ceremony, local officials and Buddhists offered incenses to commemorate King-Monk Trần Nhân Tông and pledged to promote the national solidarity and the “good life, good religion” practice.
