An action plan "Monks and lay Buddhists proactively join in crime prevention and control, maintenance of security and order" has been  developed and expanded in several districts in Soc Trang province.

The action plan was first launched at Po thi Phdok pagoda located in Ke Sach district’s Ke Thanh commune in 2019.

Implementing the action plan, two teams has been set up for strengthening the communication on the State’s policies and laws, and maintaining public security and social order during traditional festivals and religious events held at Po thi Phdok pagoda.

In April 2020, the plan was expanded to Thien Thoi pagoda located in Ke Sach district’s Thoi An Hoi commune, with an 10-member executive board led by an official of the commune People's Committee, and an assistance team of 11 members who were lay Buddhists of Thien Thoi pagoda.

In Thoi An Hoi commune, Po Thi Thlang pagoda located in An Nhon village also implanted the action plan.

For more than a year since its launching, the action plan has organized 116 meetings on the state laws, provided local functional forces with information related to security and order in the locality and at the pagoda area, and especially prevented abuses of freedom on belief and religion to conduct superstitious and illegal activities in the locality.
