Jamiul Azhar Muslim Mosque in An Giang

Jamiul Azhar Muslim mosque is one of the oldest mosques in An Giang province, located in Chau Giang village, Chau Phong commune, the province’s Tan Chau district.   

The Mosque was built in 1959, upgraded and expanded in 2012, and the upgraded mosque was formally inaugurated in 2014.

The design of the Mosque was inspired from Muslim architecture with high and wide domes, symbols such as stars, crescent moons according to ancient Islamic architecture with two main colors of white and turquoise.

The unique feature of the Mosque is a cemetery in front of the mosque. According to locals, this is the burial place of many Muslims across the country.

Muslims usually pray five times a day at dawn, midday, afternoon, sunset, and nighttime.
