Jade Buddha statue displays at Khanh Quang Pagoda, Thanh Hoa province

A solemn ceremony was held on July 19 to receive the Jade Buddha for Peace at Khanh Quang Pagoda in Thanh Hoa province’s Bim Son town.

The event saw the participation of Venerable Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Council Thích Quảng Hà, Venerable Chairman of the provincial VBS Executive Committee Thích Tâm Đức, and large numbers of monks, nuns and followers inside and outside the province.

Local guests attending the ceremony included Chairman of the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs Bùi Hải Vinh and local authorities’ representatives.

The Jade Buddha for peace statue is considered as the largest statue which was carved from gemstone-quality jade. The statue has a height of 3,5m including 2,7m tall and 1,4m high of solid alabaster throne. Its size and beauty make it a wonder of the world.

On this occasion, Venerable Abbott of Khanh Quang Pagoda Thích Tâm Chính also presented 200 gift sets (books, notebooks…) and 45 bicycles to disadvantaged pupils in Bim Son town, and two charitable houses (20 million VND in total) for the poor families in the locality, as well as donated 30 million VND to the Study Promotion Fund of Bim Son town and Quang Trung commune. The total value of the charitable program is estimated at 200 million VND.
