Hoang Phuc Pagoda receives 30 thousand visitors during Lunar New Year Festival

Over 30 thousand local people have flocked to Hoang Phuc Pagoda located in Quang Binh central province’s Le Thuy district during the traditional lunar New Year Festival (Tet) taking place from February 15-23.

The pagoda, also known as Kinh Thien, Tram or Quan temple, has a history of over 700 years and used to receive visits by King-Monk Trần Nhân Tông and King Minh Mang. It’s one of oldest Buddhist places in the province and has been classified as a national historic relic. Currently the pagoda has an area of 10 thousand square meters.

The pagoda’s annual festival this will take place on March 3-4 with many traditional and Buddhist rituals as well as cultural activities, such as water procession, prayers for peace and prosperity, release of living creatures to the nature, folk games, etc.
