A delegation of the Hoa Hao Buddhist Church on May 11 visited and handed over 16 charitable houses to disadvantaged people in Tan Phong commune of the southern province of Bac Lieu.
The delegation was led by Chairman of the Buddhist church’s Central Executive Committee Nguyễn Tấn Đạt, and joint by Vice Chairman Lê Văn Thưởng and several sponsors.
At a ceremony held in the office of the Hoa Hao executive board of Tan Phong commune in the province’s Gia Rai provincial city, the Hoa Hao Buddhist central executive committee and participating sponsors handed over 16 charitable houses to representatives of 16 families facing with special difficulties. Each charitable house receives 28 billion VND, including 25 million VND for buying construction materials and three million VND for covering labor cost. The charitable program cost 448 million VND, which has been raised amongst Hoa Hao Buddhists and other contributors.
Each of the disadvantaged families was also presented with a gift set containing rice, a mosquito, a blanket and other necessities, worth 500,000 VND in total.
On the occasion, the Hoa Hao Buddhist delegation also presented 200 gift sets, each valued at 400,000 VND to poor and near-poor families in Tan Phong commune.
