A ceremony was held at Minh Dang Quang monastery in An Phu ward, District 2 to appoint Most Venerable Thích Giác Toàn, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Council as Abbot of the monastery on Jan 10.
Attending the ceremony were Most Venerable Thích Hiển Pháp, Most Venerable Thích Đức Nghiệp and Most Venerable Thích Giác Nhường, Deputy Patriarchs of Discernment Council; Most Venerable Thích Thiện Tâm and Most Venerable Thích Thiện Tánh, Vice Chairmen of the VBS Executive Council, monks, nuns and over 2,000 Buddhists.
Local guests at the ceremony were Vice Chairman of the central Vietnam Fatherland Front Mrs. Trương Thị Ngọc Ánh, representative from the Government Committee for Religious Affairs Nguyễn Thanh Xuân and local authorities’ representatives.
Speaking at the ceremony, Most Venerable Thích Giác Toàn expressed his thanks to state authorities at various levels for their due attention extended to the VBS in general and Buddhist Bhiksu Sect in particular. He also pledged to try his best to fulfill duties assigned and promote the fine traditions of Vietnam Buddhism “For Dharma - For Nation”
