Ha Tinh city Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Board held a solemn ceremony for the announcement of abbot appointment, reconstruction plan of Khang Quy Pagoda and bell casting on June 23
Attending the ceremony were Most Venerable Vice Chairman of the VBS Executive Council cum Chairman of Ha Tinh provincial VBS Executive Committee Thích Bảo Nghiêm and over 2,000 Buddhist dignitaries, followers and local people.
Local guests at the event included Chairwoman of Ha Tinh city People’s Council Đậu Thị Thủy and Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee Lương Quốc Tuấn.
At the ceremony, Most Venerable Thích Bảo Nghiêm presented the appointment decision to Venerable Thích Tâm Phương, Head of Ha Tinh provincial VBS Ceremonial Board as Abbot of Khang Quy pagoda.
Khang Quy Pagoda will be reconstructed on an area of 31,384m2 with many facilities including Buddhist temples, communal house and the VBS’s Executive Committee headquarters.
During the ceremony, the casting work for two great bells for Khang Quy Pagoda (weighing 700 kilograms) and Ngoc Con Pagoda (weighing 400 kilograms) in Huong Son district’s Son Hoa commune was started.
On this occasion, Khang Quy Pagoda also presented 50 gift sets to the poor in the locality, each gift set worth 500,000 VND, as well as 40 million VND for upgrading the local transport system, which was raised from Ngoc Long Chau Group.
According to folk researcher Thái Kim Đỉnh, Khang Quy pagoda has a history of over three hundred of years and traditionally comprised of upper, lower and central temples, wells and a large area of cultivating land.
