Ha Tinh province: Abbot of Dai Hung Pagoda appointed

Venerable Thích Thanh Vượng was formally appointed as Abbot of Dai Hung Pagoda in Ha Tinh province at a ceremony held on July 31 by the provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Committee.

Attending the ceremony were Most Venerable Vice Chairman of the VBS Executive Council cum Chairman of Ha Tinh provincial VBS Executive Committee Thích Bảo Nghiêm, large numbers of monks and nuns and over 2,000 Buddhist followers in the locality.

Local guests at the event included representatives from the provincial Committee for Religious Affairs.

Dai Hung Pagoda is one of four ancient pagodas in the province’s Hong Linh town. According to historical documents, Dai Hung Pagoda was built on Hong Linh Mountain under the Tran dynasty.

In 2014, local Buddhist followers in Hong Linh town invited Venerable Thích Thanh Vượng from Thai Binh province to redevelop the pagoda.
